Bible Verses with Music – Howard Higashi – Country Girl – Divine Romance Hymn

The Lord’s recovery. Howard Higashi Hymns. A slide show of Bible verses set to soothing music and beautiful hymn. Scripture in songs. Country Girl – The Divine Romance. Lyrics: 1. How could a country girl like me Become Your match Your bride to be? You’re holy and You are divine But I’m fallen and human. Without You, Lord, I have no chance To be like You in this romance. But You chose me ere the world began Nothing could change Your plan. Chorus*: This divine romance Is My heart’s deep plan. I became a lowly man To court My country girl. Nothing could deter, Nothing can alter My eternal love for her; I’ll gain My country girl. 2. No man or angel ever knew This secret hidden deep in You That You desired to be one with man Before the world began. Though sin came in to ruin me Through Satan’s scheme and subtlety Nothing could break Your love for me To gain me totally. * This divine romance Is My heart’s deep plan, I became a lowly man To court My country girl. Nothing could deter, Nothing can alter My eternal love for her; I’ll gain My country girl. 3. As King of kings You became a man, You died for meI’ve been redeemed, In resurrection made us queen To marry You, my King. From death You ‘rose and entered me, I now possess Your divinity; In life and nature we’re the same: Both human and divine. * In Your love I’m drawn, To You I belong; I am not my own, Lord, I’m Yours alone. By Your love I’m drawn, In Your name I’m charmed, And Your Person captured me, For I’ve been

Abraham Praised God In His Old Age: A Fun Bible School Activity for Your Preschoolers for Psalm 63:4

Have you ever noticed how the elderly often intrigue preschoolers? I love to watch young children around older people and see them react. Psalm 63:4 says this: “I will praise you as long as I live and in Your name I will lift up my hands.” What a great verse to teach to your little ones to show how some of the different Bible characters lived many years here on earth and they chose to praise God as long as they lived. Try this fun Bible school activity to teach your children this important truth:

Here’s what you do:

Below, I have provided you with a list of 10 different Bible characters that you will want to find pictures of. You should be able to easily find these pictures in a child’s Bible or even online as coloring pages. I suggest you use ones that are in color to help keep your class’ interest. Remember to laminate them for long-term use.

Now say the following to your children: Boys and girls, do you know someone really, really old? (Wait for responses.) Do you know what we should do when we are young and when we are old? We should praise God! Our Bible verse today says: “I will praise you as long as I live” That might be a really long time for some us. Let’s learn about some Bible people who lived a super long time and praised God all of their lives. Who knows whom this is? (Hold up one of the pictures and let the children try and guess. Help them out if needed. Give them the short explanation of who each person is. After discussing each Bible person briefly, say, “(Abraham or whoever you are talking about) praised God as long as he lived. Next, pick a child in the class and say, “(Morgan), will you praise God as long as you live? Encourage a positive response. Go to the next Bible person and repeat the steps until everyone has been chosen at least once to respond to your question.

Wrong Way, Right Way: A Super Bible School Activity for James 5:20

Have you ever seen someone go down the wrong path or street? I bet you wanted to yell, “Stop!” The truth is, there are millions of people going the wrong way everyday. Instead, they should be heading toward Jesus who is the only way to the right way. Do your kids know that they can take part in helping lead their friends away from the wrong way? James 5:20 says this: “Anyone who brings a sinner back from the wrong way will save that sinner’s soul from death.” This is a pretty strong verse with a strong message. But elementary kids are ready to understand that death is real and there is a wrong and right way. Why not try playing this fun Bible school activity to help your kids understand this important truth and memorize this important Scripture? I call it, “Wrong Way, Right Way.”

Here’s what you do:

Before playing you will need to put together the following: Grab 2 ropes about 6 feet long each on which clothespins will easily fit. On one end of each rope, hang a sign that reads: Wrong Way. On each of the other ends, hang a sign that reads: Right Way. Next, take 2 paper plates and draw a face on each. You might want one to be a boy and the other a girl. Tie a loop of string at the top of each plate so that you can easily attach it to the rope with a clothespin. Now place 6 pieces of colorful tape equidistantly apart on each rope. These are the spaces on which the “person” will be moved. Finally, prepare 2 objects that are exactly the same, yet are different colors, such as 2 beanbags and place them inside a bag so that the children cannot see them. One object will represent the wrong way and the other will represent the right way. You are now ready to play the game.

Divide your kids into 2 teams. Say the following: Today we are going to memorize a very important Bible verse. It is James 5:20 and it says this: “Anyone who brings a sinner back from the wrong way will save that sinner’s soul from death.” I bet a lot of you know people who seem to always be doing the wrong thing or going the wrong way. But this Scripture says that you can take part in leading your friends away from the wrong way, which leads to death, and point them towards the right way, which leads to Jesus. Let’s play “Wrong Way, Right Way” to help us learn James 5:20 and see who can get their person (hold up paper plate face) to Jesus first. Before playing our game, let’s say James 5:20 several times together. Remember, the faster you memorize the verse, the better your team will do.

Pick 2 kids from each team who would like to hold the ends of the ropes. If you have a smaller class, you could tie each of the ropes to chairs. Explain that with every successful attempt of reciting the Bible verse, each team will get to reach into this bag that contains 2 beanbags. (Show them the bag and beanbags.) The (red) beanbag will stand for the wrong way. The (green) beanbag will stand for the right way. If you pick the red beanbag, your “person” (point to the paper plate) will have to move backwards a space. If you pick the green bag, your “person” gets to move forward a space. Now have a child from the first team come up and try and recite James 5:20. If he is successful, allow him to reach into your bag that has the beanbags. Play until one team has their “person” successfully reach the “Right Way”.

Tip: Begin the “person” on the “Wrong Way” sign. If a team picks the red beanbag and their “person” cannot move back any further, the paper plate just stays in the same position.

Missing the Mark: A Super Bible School Activity for Memorizing Romans 3:23

I really enjoy learning definitions to words. For example, I remember sitting in my youth group years ago and hearing our teacher say that sin, in its foundational definition, means to miss the mark. In other words, sin puts us off track from where God wants us to be. Our elementary kids need to understand this and realize that all “miss the mark” and sin at times. That’s what Romans 3:23 says. Here’s the complete version: “All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” Here is a fun Bible school activity you can play with your kids to help them memorize this important Bible verse. It’s called “Missing the Mark”.

Here’s what you do:

This game can actually be played indoors or out. If you are cooped up in your classroom all the time, you might want to grab a piece of sidewalk chalk and head outside. Otherwise you will need to make the following grid, I will describe, on your floor with some masking tape. Make a 12-square grid, but then put a 13th square right in the middle. I suggest making the grid about 1.5 yards long and wide. Next, label each square, except for the middle one, with one word from Romans 3:23 along with a point value of 200, 300, or 400. The middle square gets a point value of 500. There are 12 words in Romans 3:23 including the reference. Do not place them in any kind of order. They should look scrambled on the grid. Finally, grab a beanbag or some other object that will throw and land nicely on the grid. You are now ready to play the game.

Here’s how to play:

Before beginning the game, say the following: Have any of you ever shot an arrow? (Wait for responses. If no one has shot an arrow, ask if they’ve ever seen someone shoot an arrow.) I’ve shot an arrow and I hardly ever made the bulls eye. I always missed the mark. Did you know that’s kind of what sin is like? It’s like missing the mark or falling short of where you should be where God wants you to be. Romans 3:23 says this: “All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” This verse means that we are all sinners and we all miss the mark at times and do wrong things that displease God. Let’s play a game called “Missing the Mark” to help us memorize this important Bible verse.

Divide your class into 2 teams for this Bible school activity. Give a child from the first team the chance to throw the beanbag. He should try for the middle square. If he succeeds, he must look away from the grid and recite Romans 3:23 by heart. If he does so correctly, he earns 500 points for his team. If he lands on a square with a word on it, he can earn the points on that square by saying the verse while looking at the grid. However, before he says it, you the teacher, must erase the word in the box. Play continues to the next team. Eventually, it will get harder to recite the verse as the words are erased. On any turn, if the beanbag lands on a square whose word has already been erased, then the teacher erases a different word on the grid, but the child only earns the points of the original square. The team with the most points wins.

Fruit of the Spirit Pie: A Super Bible School Activity for Memorizing Galatians 5:22

I know you’ve heard of apple pie and peach pie. You might have even heard of shoo-fly pie. But have you ever heard of fruit of the spirit pie? Here is a Bible school activity that will help your kids memorize one of the most loved verses of the Bible, Galatians 5:22, which says: “The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. This Bible game also might make your kids a little hungry.

Here’s what you do:

You will need to make a pie chart that has 10 pieces to it. You could either draw this outside on pavement with some chalk or you could draw it on a chalkboard or dry erase board or you could construct a colorful one from poster board. It’s your choice. Next, write one of the fruits of the spirit alongside each pie piece. There are nine of them: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness and self-control. Near the tenth piece of pie, write the Bible reference, Galatians 5:22. Eventually, all of these words will be erased or covered up. In the corner of each piece of pie, write a number 1 through 10. Have the number one begin with the word love, 2 joy, 3 peace, 4 patience, 5 kindness, 6 goodness, 7 faithfulness, 8 gentleness, 9 self-control and 10 Gal. 5:22. After this, make or gather 30 red circles and 30 orange circles big enough so that 6 of each could fit inside a piece of the pie. The red circles will stand for cherries and the orange circles will stand for oranges. Finally, grab a bag into which you will put cards that have the numbers 1 through 10 written on them. You are now ready to play the game.

Divide your class into 2 teams. One will be the cherries and the other oranges. Have one child come up from the first team – cherries. He must say the Bible verse correctly. If he says it correctly, he gets to reach into the number bag and pull out a number. Let’s say it was the number 3. He will add a cherry to pie piece number 3. The child puts the number 3 back into the bag. The next team is up and does they same thing. The first team to get 3 pieces of their fruit in one of the pie pieces is the winner.

Now, it’s important to realize during this Bible school activity that the kids are allowed to look at the pie while reciting the verse. At first, it will be very easy for them. However, when a pie piece ends up with 2 pieces of fruit (either cherries or oranges) inside a “slice”, then the word next to that slice is erased or covered up. As the game progresses, reciting the verse will become more difficult. Anyone for whipped cream?

Clothe Yourselves: A Super Bible School Activity for Memorizing Colossians 3:12

I love how the Bible is so visual and practical. And what is more practical than the clothes we wear? However, the Bible isn’t concerned that we are wearing Gucci or Versace. God’s Word encourages us to put on much better attire such as compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. If you don’t believe me, read Colossians 3:12 which says, “As God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.” Why not try this fun Bible school activity to help your kids memorize this great verse? I call it “Clothe Yourselves”.

Here’s what you do:

This game takes some preparation, but your kids will appreciate the time you spent. First, you want to make a large die. I went to my local box store and bought a 7″ cube. I then went on my computer and created some nice colorful numbers, 1 through 6, and attached them on each side. (Trust me. You will use this die for many different games. The kids love the big, fun size.) Next, gather 2 sets of the following items of clothes: 2 hats, 2 shirts, 2 shorts and 2 pairs of shoes. I went to my local thrift store and bought oversized items for real cheap. Next, attach the following cards to each piece of clothing: “compassion” goes on the hats, “kindness” goes on the shirts, “humility” goes on the shorts and “gentleness” goes on one pair of the shoes and “patience” goes on the other. I put each set of clothes in separate buckets. Finally, you might want to write on a board of some kind the following: One equals compassion, two equals kindness, three equals humility, four equals gentleness, five equals patience and 6 equals Free Piece. You are now ready to play.

Divide your class into 2 teams. Pick one child from each team to be the one who is dressed. Have them stand in front of the class. Now say the following: Name some brand names of clothes that you really like. (Wait for responses.) Why do you think those clothes are so cool? (Wait for responses.) Did you guys know that God cares about how you clothe yourself? (Wait for response.) Well, believe it or not, He does. He cares a lot. And I am going to prove it to you. Listen to Colossians 3:12 which says, “As God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.” I don’t think you’ll find any of these clothes at the mall, but you can find them by getting to know God and by becoming more like Him. Today, we are going to memorize this Bible verse by playing a fun game called “Clothe Yourselves.” Here’s how we play. We have two teams and one from each team will eventually be dressed in all of the clothes that you see here. (Hold up each article of clothing. The kids will get a kick out of seeing how big they are.) One person from each team will get a chance to come up and say the Bible verse. If he does so correctly, he will get to roll this die. Whatever number he lands on, is the article of clothing he gets to dress his teammate in. If a six is rolled, you get to choose a piece that is not being worn yet. If you do not say the verse correctly, you sit down and the play goes to the next team. The first team to get their teammate dressed is the winner. Let’s have some fun!

Call and Catch: A Super Bible School Activity for Memorizing Jeremiah 33:3

Isn’t it amazing that God, Maker of Heaven and the Universe, desires that we call out to Him? Not only that, but when we do call to Him, He promises to show us great things we have no idea about! If you have your doubts, read Jeremiah 33:3, which says: “Call to me and I will answer you and I will tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know.” I think your kids will get excited about this verse especially when they play the fun Bible school activity “Call and Catch.”

Here’s what you do:

Before playing the game, you will want to introduce your children to Jeremiah 33:3. Ask them if they ever would like to ask God a question, but sometimes feel like He wouldn’t answer them. Let the kids respond, then point out how this verse shows that God wants His children to ask Him anything and to call upon His name. In fact this verse promises that He will answer us and even tell us great and wondrous things even things that are too hard for us to understand or fathom. Tell the children that they are going to memorize this important Bible verse. Say the verse together as a class several times, then tell them that they are ready to play “Call and Catch.”

For this Bible school activity game you will need a ball. A beach ball or rubber playground ball will work nicely. Have the children in your group stand in an open space. Pick one child to begin. He will throw the ball up into the air and you, the teacher, will call out the name of someone in the class. That person catches it and now it is their turn to throw the ball up in the air and you, the teacher, call out another name. This happens 3 times. The third person who catches the ball must hold the ball and on your word, “Go!”, he must say Jeremiah 33:3 from memory as fast as he can. After he is done, the calling and catching begins again.

Tips:

I suggest that the teacher calls out the student’s names to keep things fair. However, if you have a class with good camaraderie, then you could have the kids call out the name of a person to catch the ball.
If you’d like, you could time each child on how fast they can say the verse and keep track of it. You could then reward the top 3 reciters with something “GREAT!”
